Heathrow Airport
Richard Fairey, a British aeronautical engineer and aircraft manufacturer, paid the Vicar of Harmondsworth £15,000 in 1930 for a 150-acre area on which to construct a private airport for the assembly and testing of aircraft. Fairey's Great West Aerodrome, which had just one grass runway and a few hurriedly constructed structures, served as the modest model for Heathrow, the busiest international airport in the world.
Stansted Airport
The community of Stansted Mountfitchet is close to London Stansted Airport. There is only one primary passenger terminal. Three passenger satellites feature departure gates; two are connected to the main terminal by the Stansted Airport Transit System people mover and one by an air bridge.
By the end of Heathrow's first year of operation, 63,000 passengers had passed through the new airport in London. This figure had increased to 796,000 by 1951, and the airport hired British architect Frederick Gibberd to create permanent structures. According to his design, a centre area was built, and a "vehicular subway" that ran below the original main runway allowed access to it. A 122-foot-tall control tower served as the centrepiece of Gibberd's strategy.
The terminal building was designed by Foster & Partners with the help of structural engineer Peter Rice. It includes a "floating" roof supported by a space frame made of inverted-pyramid roof trusses that resembles a stylised swan in flight. The "utility pillar" at the foot of each truss construction contains the electrical outlets, water outlets, and air conditioning units in addition to providing indirect uplighting illumination. Originally, it was planned for travelers to have a direct route from the short-stay parking lot to the check-in area, through security, and then to the departure gates.
There are a lot of ways to go to your destination from or To both Airports. There is an option of Train at both Airports and there are also taxi services which are available at Heathrow Airport and Stansted Airport. But there is risk in both options because the crime rate is high in those areas so it’s better to book or choose the safest side for your travelling.
